Meet ... Yobbo

Bushfire update 6 February 2006: we haven't seen Yobbo since the fire. There is still hope - other wildlife shelters in the region have taken some animals, and we are currently trying to find out whether any of them have him. His area was not so badly burnt, so hopefully he has survived.

A big, good-looking male that lives near Fran, close to the junction of a big busy road and the track we travel into the bush. He is always extremely nervous of people, but seems totally unconcerned by big trucks passing underneath him! Somehow this amazing koala regularly crosses this busy road - which worries us terribly!

It is very difficult to photograph Yobbo, as he always tries to hide behind branches - as you can see in this picture.
